The Hope and Anchor Inn, set in the unique old fishing village of Hope Cove, is now a charming coastal retreat following a stylish makeover. The characterful interiors have been sympathetically updated, blending old and new with stripped wooden floors and open theatre style kitchen. Outside there is a spacious sun-drenched deck and terrace overlooking the sandy beach – wonderful for families and alfresco dining.
The Hope and Anchor has 11 tastefully decorated bedrooms that can accommodate single travellers, couples, and families. Dogs are welcome to join their families in any of the bedrooms for a small charge. Although they are not allowed in the small cove (from May to September), they are allowed on the main beach provided they are on a lead. Most of the rooms have stunning views of either Hope Cove or Bigbury Bay. Nod off to the sound of the sea in one our cosy bedrooms which room facilities include TV, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities, luxury Vi-Spring beds and free WiFi.
In Hope Cove fishing village, the Hope and Anchor Inn boasts excellent sea views and fresh seafood. It has a bar and restaurant, and is opposite the beach.
Rooms at the Hope and Anchor Inn all have sea views and some have stunning views over Bigbury Bay. All rooms have a TV, hairdryer and a bathroom with a shower.
The restaurant features fresh, Devonshire produce and serves pub favourites and fish dishes. The bar serves real ales and a selection of wines and spirits. The terrace overlooks the beach.
The Hope and Anchor lies within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Clifftop walks and some watersports are available in the village.
Salcombe, with its popular harbour, sailing school and Overbeck’s House, is a 15-minute drive away. Dartmoor National Park, Dartmouth and Saltram House are all within 30 minutes’ drive.
